TRUMP SCIENCE AND OTHER LIES
COMPILATION AND COMMENTARY
BY LUCY WARNER
SEPTEMBER 4, 2017

“TRUMP'S NOMINEE TO BE USDA'S CHIEF SCIENTIST IS NOT A SCIENTIST!” NOW THAT’S REAL NEWS! WILL THE SENATE ALLOW THE PRETENDER TO TAKE THE POSITION? I DO HOPE NOT. IN CASE YOU FIND YOURSELF WONDERING HOW SO MANY THINGS LIKE THIS HAVE BEEN TAKING PLACE SINCE NOVEMBER 2016, REMEMBER HOW MUCH THE AMERICAN PUBLIC HAS IGNORED ITS’ CIVIC DUTIES TO OVERSEE PROPER GOVERNANCE IN A DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC. “WHAT, ME WORRY?” HAS BEEN THE ATTITUDE. UNFORTUNATELY, WE DESERVE WHAT WE HAVE THESE DAYS.

THE KEY CHARACTERISTIC FOR ANY TRUMP NOMINEE FOR ANY POST IS HIS/HER TOTAL LOYALTY TO DONALD TRUMP OR THE ALT-RIGHT, OR SO IT SEEMS TO ME. AS FOR THE WATERING DOWN OF ALL QUALIFICATIONS IN REGARD TO ACADEMIC BACKGROUND OR FACTS VERSUS POLITICAL DOCTRINE, THAT IS CLEARLY THE CASE HERE. PROPOSING FOR OFFICE SUCH A FRAUD AS CLOVIS APPARENTLY IS, SHOULD BE AN OFFENSE SUBJECT TO IMPEACHMENT. LIKEWISE PARDONING YOUR FRIENDS/SYCOPHANTS WHEN THEIR CRIMES HAVEN’T EVEN BEEN REVEALED – OR EVEN BEFOREHAND -- AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, CORRUPT BUSINESS DEALINGS IN THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS FOLLOWING THE 2016 ELECTION. ELECTION-RELATED TIES WITH A FOREIGN GOVERNMENT SHOULD GUARANTEE TRUMP’S OUSTING FROM THE PRESIDENCY, EVEN IF THE OTHER ISSUES DON’T.

I’M NOT SAYING THAT IT WILL HAPPEN, BUT THAT IT SHOULD. THERE IS A NICE BIG UMBRELLA TYPE LEGAL CONCEPT CALLED “MALFEASANCE.” THAT IS THE KIND OF AMORAL BEHAVIOR BY A PUBLIC OFFICIAL WHICH JUST MIGHT BE GROUNDS FOR IMPEACHMENT, IF THE OPPOSING PARTY IS IN CONTROL OF THE GOVERNMENT AT THE TIME TO ENFORCE IT. THERE IS AN INTERESTING ARTICLE IN THE NEWS YESTERDAY RECOUNTING THE TRADITIONAL LETTER LEFT BY PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR THE NEW PRESIDENT TRUMP. THE COLLEGIAL TONE IS NICE, BUT THE REMINDER THAT ALL OCCUPANTS OF THE WHITE HOUSE ARE “TEMPORARY” RESIDENTS MUST BE REMEMBERED AND, WHEN NECESSARY, ENFORCED.

UNLESS THE WHOLE NATION FALLS APART TOTALLY, THERE WILL BE DIEHARDS LIKE MYSELF WHO BELIEVE IN “GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE". THAT QUOTATION COMES FROM THE GETTYSBURG ADDRESS, WRITTEN AND SPOKEN BY THE GREAT ABRAHAM LINCOLN.” I SUGGEST YOU READ THAT FOR YOURSELF AGAIN TO REFRESH YOUR INNER SPIRIT. IT ISN’T WORDY, BUT EVERY WORD COUNTS. IT’S NOT ONLY AN IMPRESSIVE SPEECH, IT’S GREAT PHILOSOPHY AND LITERATURE.

AT “HTTP://WWW.DICTIONARY.COM/BROWSE/MALFEASANCE,” THE TERM IS DEFINED AS, “THE PERFORMANCE BY A PUBLIC OFFICIAL OF AN ACT THAT IS LEGALLY UNJUSTIFIED, HARMFUL, OR CONTRARY TO LAW; WRONGDOING (USED ESPECIALLY OF AN ACT IN VIOLATION OF A PUBLIC TRUST). COMPARE MISFEASANCE (DEF 2), NONFEASANCE. ORIGIN OF MALFEASANCE 1690-1700; EARLIER MALEFEASANCE.”

TRUMP HAS NO ETHICAL FRAMEWORK I’M AFRAID, WHICH WILL PREVENT HIM FROM DOING WHATEVER SEEMS EXPEDIENT AND CLEVER TO HIM, NO MATTER THE COST TO THE COUNTRY. OUR GOVERNMENTAL STRUCTURE IS BEING DEMOLISHED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THINK OF THE RESULTS OF PURPOSELY BRINGING TERMITES INTO YOUR HOUSE. THAT’S WHAT TRUMP HAS BEEN DOING SINCE ATTAINING THE OVAL OFFICE.

I CYNICALLY BELIEVE HIS OVERALL GOAL IS TO HAVE ENOUGH LOYALISTS IN PLACE FROM THE TOP TO THE BOTTOM OF THE GOVERNMENT TO INSURE A SORT OF IN-HOUSE PERSONAL ARMY FOR THE DAY WHEN HE THINKS HE CAN SUCCEED IN TAKING OVER THE GOVERNMENT TOTALLY IN EVERY WAY. BYE, BYE SENATE. IF YOU WANT TO EXERCISE A CHOICE ON THESE THINGS, YOU’D BETTER DO IT SOONER RATHER THAN LATER. EVEN YOU REPUBLICAN SENATORS HAD BETTER BE ON YOUR GUARD. TRUMP DEMANDS LOYALTY, BUT SHOWS NONE IN RETURN.

THE FACT THAT HE HAS SET UP A DONALD TRUMP TELEVISION NETWORK SINCE ELECTION, CONCERNS ME GREATLY. THAT’S EITHER ANOTHER OF HIS EGOTISTICAL MOVES, OR AN OVERT POWER GRAB. MAKING TRUMP TELEVISION THE STATE-APPROVED NETWORK COULD BE THE NEXT STEP, WITH THE ESSENTIAL MUZZLING OR EVEN ELIMINATION OF ALL FREE PRESS COMPETITORS. BREITBART, OF COURSE, IS NOT A COMPETITOR, SO THAT’S SAFE.

AN ARTICLE ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO SPOKE OF A SUSPICIOUSLY LARGE NUMBER OF “WAIVERS” WHICH HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY DONALD TRUMP ON VARIOUS ISSUES. CLEARLY, HE BELIEVES THAT IF THERE IS A LAW IN PLACE COVERING QUALIFICATIONS, THERE SHOULD BE WAIVERS ISSUED TO GET AROUND IT. ALL OF HIS BUSINESS-ORIENTED BILLIONAIRES SHOULD HAVE A RIGHT TO “GOVERN” IN THEIR LITTLE CORNER OF THE GOVERNMENT. THAT’S THE TRUMP WAY. PERHAPS COMMON LAW WILL BE CHANGED TO TRUMP LAW, YA THINK?

NPR SAYS BELOW THAT IF THE THREE HUNDRED FIFTY-POUND CLOVIS DOES SUCCEED IN GETTING SUCH A WAIVER, HE WILL HAVE TO GET 60 VOTES IN THE FULL SENATE TO BRING IT ABOUT. (ABOUT HIS SIZE, I DON’T KNOW THE EXACT FIGURE, BUT ONE LOOK AT HIS PHOTOGRAPH WILL SHOW THE GENERAL RANGE OF HIS PORTLINESS.) THE LEGISLATURE CAN BLOCK THESE TRUMP MOVES, BUT THEY HAVE TO HAVE THE POLITICAL WILL TO DO IT. AT THIS RATE, I THINK TRUMP MAY BE ABLE TO ELIMINATE THE LEGITIMATE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT BEFORE HE WILL BE IMPEACHED. I HOPE THAT WON’T TURN OUT TO BE THE SITUATION.

TO EXPLAIN MYSELF FURTHER ON WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE REAL WORLD, I SUGGEST, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVEN’T SEEN THE LYRICS OF “SYMPATHY [SOMETIMES CALLED ‘SYMPHONY’] FOR THE DEVIL” IN A WHILE, NOT TO MENTION THE EXCELLENT MUSIC IN THE SONG, GO TO MY FAVORITE VERSION OF IT BY “BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS,” HTTP://WWW.OLDIELYRICS.COM/ALBUMS/BLOOD_SWEAT_TEARS/1970-BLOOD_SWEAT_TEARS_3.HTML. THAT WHOLE ALBUM OPENED UP MY INNER SELF AND HEALED MY PERSONAL ANGST, AT ANOTHER TERRIBLE TIME IN US HISTORY, THOUGH THEN IT WAS THE VIETNAM WAR, AND THE FEARSOME LEADER OF THE DAY WAS RICHARD NIXON.

THE ORIGINAL WORK WAS PRODUCED BY THE ROLLING STONES. KEITH RICHARDS AND MICK JAGGER CO-WROTE THE LYRICS AND MUSIC. SEVERAL MUSICIANS WORKED ALONG WITH THE STONES ONSTAGE, WHO HAVE ALSO PUT OUT THEIR OWN VERSIONS. THE ARTISTIC IMPACT OF THIS SONG/HYMN OF IRONICAL COMPLAINT IS AS NEAR A DESCRIPTION OF THE DEVIL AS I KNOW. READ THE LYRICS BELOW.

Lyrics

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul to waste
And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a general's rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
(Woo woo, woo woo)
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
(Woo woo, woo woo)
I shouted out,
Who killed the Kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
(Who who, who who)
Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached Bombay
(Woo woo, who who)
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
(Who who)
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
(Who who, who who)
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
(Woo woo, who who)
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Lucifer
'Cause I'm in need of some restraint
(Who who, who who)
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
(Woo woo)
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, mm yeah
(Woo woo, woo woo)
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, mm yeah
(Who who)
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, mm mean it, get down
(Woo woo, woo woo)
Woo, who
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Oh yeah!
(Woo woo)
Tell me baby, what's my name
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name
Tell me baby, what's my name
I tell you one time, you're to blame
Oh, who
Woo, woo
Woo, who
Woo, woo
Woo, who, who [x2]
Oh, yeah
What's my name
Tell me, baby, what's my name
Tell me, sweetie, what's my name
Woo, who, who [x6]
Oh, yeah
Woo woo [x2]

A HIGHLY OFFENSIVE TRUTH LIES BEHIND THIS NEWS STORY BY NPR. IT ISN'T AN "OPINION" ARTICLE, BUT FACTS. THIS SHOULD FRIGHTEN AMERICANS MORE THAN HAVING ISLAMIC WORSHIPERS AMONG US. THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION ISN’T EVEN MAKING AN EFFORT AT AN APPEARANCE OF QUALITY GOVERNMENT. THAT SHOWS WHY I HAVE JUST QUOTED A 1970'S ROCK SONG. IT’S TIME TO MOBILIZE THE PEOPLE’S ARMY AGAIN. TRUMP IS ATTEMPTING A POWER GRAB BASED ALMOST SOLELY ON LIES, PURPOSEFUL STUPIDITY AND HATRED. I SAY PURPOSEFUL, BECAUSE TOO MANY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE A PART OF THIS CHARADE. NOT ME, OF COURSE, NOR THEE, BUT MANY OTHERS. NOTE, THIS JOB SPECIFICALLY REQUIRES A SCIENCE BACKGROUND, SO THAT BEING UNDESIRABLE TO THIS REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION, TRUMP OFFERS WAIVERS TO THE PROFESSIONALIZATION OF THE POST. IT'S THE OLD "POINTY-HEADED INTELLECTUAL" ATTITUDE IN YET ANOTHER GENERATION OF REPUBLICANS.

Trump's Nominee To Be USDA's Chief Scientist Is Not A Scientist
FROM IOWA PUBLIC RADIO

AMY MAYER

Photograph -- Sam Clovis, a conservative talk radio host who ran President Trump's campaign in Iowa, has been nominated to a top scientific post at the Department of Agriculture even though he lacks a science background.

The chief scientist of the U.S. Department of Agriculture is typically a low-profile job in any presidential administration. But President Trump's nomination of his former Iowa campaign manager for the post is raising concern in the scientific community and beyond about the politicization of science policy in the Trump administration.

Among the concerns: Clovis isn't a scientist. He holds a doctorate, but it's in public administration and not a scientific discipline.

If confirmed, Clovis would oversee the agency's $3 billion research budget, which funds, among other things, research to help farmers and ranchers adapt to climate change. Clovis is currently the White House liaison to USDA.

As a Senate candidate in 2014, Clovis told Iowa Public Radio that he was skeptical that human activity is driving climate change.

"I have looked at the science," Clovis said, "and I have enough of a science background to know when I'm being boofed. And a lot of what we see is junk science."

There is an overwhelming body of scientific evidence showing that humans are causing the climate to warm by releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, a view supported by data collected by government agencies such as NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Fighter pilot, professor, talk radio host

Clovis has worn many hats. He was an Air Force fighter pilot and taught economics and business at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. He is probably best known for hosting a conservative talk show.

"Frankly, I'm appalled," says Brenda Brink, a member of the Iowa Farmers Union, "because he's not made any bones about being a scientist and yet he's been appointed to this position where he's elevated to the level of a scientist."

That is not all that is controversial about Clovis. As reported by CNN, he used to run a blog on which he wrote racially charged posts, once related being gay with pedophilia and questioned whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States.

"Normally, who you name to chief scientist at USDA wouldn't be front-page news," says Ricardo Salvador, director of the food and environment program at the Union of Concerned Scientists, adding that Clovis is unqualified.

"If he makes decisions on the basis of loyalty to a new president or political ideology," Salvador says, "we're afraid this is just going to be very noxious to responsible, science-based decision-making."

In the past, Clovis has shown a willingness to upset a key constituency of USDA: farmers. As a Senate candidate, Clovis questioned the value of federally-subsidized crop insurance, which many farmers rely on. (It is not a program Clovis would oversee as chief scientist.)

"Most of the Iowa farmers I talk to would just as soon have the government out of their lives and that includes the insurance programs," Clovis told Iowa Public Radio in 2014.

Potential confirmation fight

Clovis does have powerful allies, including Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, a Republican and member of the agriculture committee. Grassley has sought to downplay the debate about Clovis' qualifications by equating his degree in public administration to a degree in economics and argues that background does qualify Clovis for the job.

"There's a very close relationship between science and decisions that the government makes in science and the impact on the economy," said Grassley.

"He's not just completely going to be a political hack," says Des Moines Register political columnist Kathie Obradovich, who got to know Clovis during his Senate bid. "I do think that he will listen to people who have the scientific knowledge."

Democrats are signaling they will try to make it difficult to confirm Clovis.

The top Democrat on the agriculture committee, Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, points to a provision in the law that specifically requires that chief scientist nominees be chosen from quote "among distinguished scientists with specialized training or significant experience in agricultural research, education or economics."

"In my judgment, I don't see how in the world he meets the requirements of the law," Stabenow said. "I think this is certainly something we're exploring."

Stabenow said Clovis may need a waiver to get the job, which would need 60 votes from the full Senate instead of the simple majority needed for confirmation.

"We would have to see," Stabenow says, "but certainly that's a much higher threshold for him to have to reach."

At least two other Democratic senators, Kamala Harris of California and Chuck Schumer of New York, also oppose the nomination even as two dozen farm and commodity groups have signaled their support for Clovis.

Clovis' confirmation hearing before the Senate agriculture committee has not been scheduled.

AM I SERIOUS ABOUT TRUMP TV? YES. IT IS NOT BEING FEATURED ON THE “WHITE HOUSE FACEBOOK PAGE,” PERHAPS FOR FEAR OF A STIFF GOVERNMENTAL ACTION AGAINST CAMP TRUMP, BUT INSTEAD ON THE “TRUMP CAMPAIGN FACEBOOK PAGE.” IN THE ARTICLE BELOW IT IS CALLED A “MOCK” NEWS SEGMENT AND IT IS ONLY A LITTLE OVER A MINUTE LONG, BUT IT DEFINITELY DOES DO A WHITEWASH ON THE TRUMP SUCCESS VERSUS FAILURE STATISTICS, AND I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT TRUMP HOPES THERE WILL BE ENOUGH NAIVE PEOPLE BELIEVING WHAT THEY SAY IN ORDER TO KEEP TRUMP AND HIS PEOPLE IN OFFICE FOR DECADES TO COME.

DISTURBINGLY, THE RNC SEEMS TO BE INVOLVED IN IT WITH HIM; OR AT LEAST HIS CHOSEN NEWS PRESENTER IS ALSO THE HEAD REPUBLICAN PARTY’S OFFICIAL SPOKESPERSON, AND THE LEAD IN CALLS THE BROADCAST THE “REAL NEWS.” DISGUSTING. 1984 IN 2017 – IT’S LATE IN COMING, BUT VERY SIMILAR TO THE BOOK, WHICH WAS OF COURSE BASED ON RUSSIA.

THEY DEFEND THIS ACTION BY REFERRING TO OBAMA’S “WEST WING WEEK,” ABOUT WHICH THE ARTICLE STATES: “THE OBAMA-ERA VIDEOS, HOWEVER, FOCUSED PRIMARILY ON THE COMINGS AND GOINGS WITHIN 1600 PENNSYLVANIA AVE., NOT SO MUCH ON DISPELLING "FAKE NEWS" THAT THE ADMINISTRATION DOESN'T LIKE.” FORMER US AMBASSADOR TO RUSSIA MICHAEL MCFAUL’S COMMENT ON WATCHING ONE OF THOSE WAS: "WOW. FEELS EERILY LIKE SO MANY STATE-OWNED CHANNELS I'VE WATCHED IN OTHER COUNTRIES." A

ALSO, PERHAPS YOU SAW THE BIZARRE AND DOWNRIGHT SPOOKY CLIP OF TAPE MAYBE TEN MINUTES LONG IN WHICH TRUMP’S WORKERS EACH AND EVERY ONE TOOK TURNS SAYING STICKY SWEET PRAISES OF TRUMP AND TO HIS FACE. IT WAS LIKE A SPECIAL KIND OF GROUP PSYCHIATRIC THERAPY – AND NOT UNLIKE THE WAY PEOPLE IN NORTH KOREA TALK ABOUT THE MURDEROUS KIM AS “DEAR LEADER.” PAINFULLY, IN BOTH CASES, I BELIEVE THE LITTLE SPEECHES WERE A BASIC PART OF KEEPING THEIR POSTS, AND AS INSINCERE AND EXAGGERATED AS THEY SOUNDED. I’M REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE IN TRUMP AMERICA.

https://www.nytimes.com/video/us/politics/100000005160406/trump-cabinet-meeting-praise.html, SHOWS FOOTAGE OF THE STRANGE RECITATION, ALONG WITH THE NYT SERIES “TRUMP’S GOVERNMENT.”

THE DAILY BEAST WEIGHS IN ON TRUMP REALITY FEATURES DESCRIBED IN THE ARTICLE AS “NEWS STYLE VIDEOS,” A PHENOMENON WHICH ISN’T NEW. SOME TEN OR SO YEARS AGO THERE WAS A SCANDAL ON THE USE OF CANNED AND EDITED “INTERVIEW” VIDEOS WHICH WERE PRODUCED BY A POLITICAL CANDIDATE, AND PUSHED ON NEWS OUTLETS ON SUCH MAINSTREAM NEWS SHOWS AS THE NIGHTLY NEWS: IN THE GUISE OF A LIVE INTERVIEW WITH A REAL INTERVIEWER. THAT WAS DONE BY SOME REPUBLICAN – GEORGE W BUSH, I THINK. THERE WAS AN IMMEDIATE OUTRAGED REACTION FROM JOHN Q. PUBLIC WHEN KNOWLEDGE OF IT HIT THE PRESS, WHICH STOPPED THAT PARTICULAR OCCURRENCE AT THE TIME. NOW UNDER TRUMP IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. HOW SICKENING.

THAT’S LIKE THOSE DOCUMENTARIES WHICH RATHER THAN SHOWING “REAL PEOPLE,” HIRE USUALLY INEXPERT ACTORS TO PLAY THOSE ROLES. MOST DOCUMENTARIES ARE, OF COURSE, CERTAINLY ACCURATE, FACTUAL, AND SERIOUS IN INTENT, I.E., REAL, BUT MANY ARE NOT. THE LINE BETWEEN FACT AND FICTION HAS ALWAYS BEEN A THIN ONE, ESPECIALLY WHEN BILLIONS OF DOLLARS ARE INVOLVED. SOMETIMES, ESPECIALLY ON PUBLIC BROADCASTING, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, AND THE CBS NEWS SERIES ON TRUE CRIME CALLED “48 HOURS,” THEY ARE BOTH BEAUTIFULLY PRODUCED AND TRUTHFUL AS WELL. OF THOSE, I WOULD LIKE TO RECOMMEND THE SERIES “ARCHAEOLOGY,” WHICH WON A CABLE ACE AWARD FOR BEST SCIENCE SERIES. IT STARS A VERY DIGNIFIED AND POLISHED ACTOR NAMED JOHN RHYS DAVIES, WITH A BEAUTIFUL OPERATIC QUALITY VOICE AND PERFECT BRITISH PRONUNCIATION. HE IS NOT, HOWEVER, AN ARCHAEOLOGIST.

ON THE OTHER HAND, THE QUIRKY AND MUCH LESS POLISHED ARCHEOLOGY SHOW CALLED “TIME TEAM;” IN WHICH ONE OF A NUMBER OF PROFESSIONAL SCIENTIFIC GROUPS WITH THEIR VOLUNTEERS, WHO REGULARLY TAKE ON SHORT TERM “DIGS” IN PLACES WHERE A CONSTRUCTION SITE, A ROAD CREW, ETC. HAS UNCOVERED ANCIENT REMAINS, PRODUCE A GENUINE HANDS-DIRTY DIG WITH LESS THAN SPECTACULAR, AND RARELY GOLDEN, ARTIFACTS ARE UNEARTHED. TO SUCH A REAL-LIFE TEAM, A FRAGMENT OF POTTERY WHICH FITS INTO A KNOWN TIME AND TYPE SEQUENCE IS FOUND IN A SURPRISING PLACE OR SOIL LAYER, CAN MAKE A STEP FORWARD ON THE SITE OF AN OLD MANOR HOUSE OR EVEN UPEND A THEORY OF PALEOLITHIC PERIODS. SUCH TEAMS HAVE A SHORT TIME TO DO THEIR JOB BEFORE THE BULLDOZERS MUST GO BACK TO WORK. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE A BRIEF THREE OR FOUR WEEK INVOLVEMENT ON SUCH A TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS AND VOLUNTEERS IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA ON A NATIVE AMERICAN SITE. THEY ALSO DO HISTORICAL WORK THERE. BUILDINGS GO BACK INTO THE LATE 1600S IN VIRGINIA. I WAS OF COURSE A VOLUNTEER. ALL WORK AT THOSE PLACES, IS SHORT TERM.

SO, HERE IS THE NEWEST IN FAKE NEWS, DONALD TRUMP STYLE. I HOPE THE LEGALITY OF SUCH FALSIFICATION IN AN ALMOST HOLY SETTING SUCH AS THE AMERICAN VOTE AND ELECTION, WILL BE QUESTIONED, AND IT WILL BE ADDED TO THE CHARGES UNDER HIS NAME.

Photograph -- President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law is “running the show” at his Trump TV project funded by his reelection campaign, multiple sources tell The Daily Beast.

When the Trump campaign unveiled a new Trump-friendly news product on social media last week, viewers weren’t just seeing a novel political strategy in the form of “Trump TV.” They were watching a new power center in the president’s orbit and the political apparatus pursuing his reelection.

Lara Trump, wife of Eric, is now “running the show” on the Trump campaign’s newest advertising product, as one Republican source close to the campaign told The Daily Beast, citing her past “expertise” in TV news broadcasting as a former Inside Edition producer.

Lara has played a larger role in campaign activities of late, speaking at the president’s campaign rallies and starring in the inaugural edition of the Trump-boosting “Real News,” an emerging series of digital ads designed to look like news broadcasts. The “Real” videos, which were inspired by lower-budget broadcasts from the 2016 campaign offices, are being filmed and produced out of a newly built studio in the campaign’s Trump Tower headquarters in New York City.

Lara isn’t just a campaign surrogate, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the campaign, she is deeply involved in the mechanics of the president’s reelection effort through her role for its top vendor, consulting firm Giles-Parscale.

The firm is doing some editing and graphics work on the “Real News” videos, according to a source with direct knowledge of that work.

Co-owned by former Trump campaign digital director Brad Parscale, Giles-Parscale was by far the largest recipient of Trump campaign money last cycle, bringing in more than $90 million in consulting fees, primarily for digital advertising and fundraising work. Last week, the firm sold off its commercial design and online services arms for an estimated $9 million, further honing its focus on political work.

Donald Trump's Base Doesn't Care that Steve Bannon is gone.

In this Dec. 15, 2016, photo, CNN commentator Jeffrey Lord, appears at a rally for President-elect Donald Trump in Hershey, Pa. Lord made a comparison of Trump to Martin Luther King Jr., on CNN's morning "New Day." He is one of a handful of pro-Trump commentators that CNN hired during the last election.

Since Trump took office, Parscale has stepped back from day-to-day operations at Giles-Parscale and its Trump campaign operations, according to a source with direct knowledge of the campaign’s workings. Instead, Parscale is focusing most of his efforts on his newer consulting firm, Parscale Strategies, and its work for America First Policies, a dark-money nonprofit group that supports the Trump policy agenda.

Giles-Parscale hired Lara in late March. Since then, she has taken over its Trump campaign work, practically replacing Parscale on that front in all respects but his official campaign title.

With Lara overseeing that digital consulting work for the Trump campaign, Giles-Parscale has helped to craft the new Trump TV videos. Trump herself starred in the first such video, which was released through the campaign’s social media channels last week. The firm is also doing some editing and graphics work for the videos.

The title “Real News” is an allusion to Trump’s and his supporters’ frequent allegations that reporting unfriendly to the president and his agenda is, almost by definition, “fake news.”

The latest episode featured another pro-Trump media personality: 2016 campaign supporter Kayleigh McEnany, who officially left her job as an on-air CNN contributor last week and has now anchored the campaign’s new news-style videos.

It is not clear whether McEnany had an official title with the campaign. But on Monday, Politico reported that she will join the Republican National Committee as its national spokesperson. The Daily Beast can confirm that she had been in talks for months interviewing for a top post in the RNC communications shop.

RNC spokesman Michael Ahrens told The Daily Beast that the committee was not involved in producing the “Trump TV” videos, “but we think it’s a great idea for the campaign to be putting out videos that talk about the president’s accomplishments.”

Ahrens compared them to “whiteboard” videos put out by the Obama reelection campaign, and to a news-style website called The Briefing published by Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign.

McEnany’s “News” video also drew comparisons to a series of videos produced by the Obama White House. Dubbed “West Wing Week,” those videos were produced using government resources, in contrast to the Trump campaign’s videos.

Nevertheless, pro-Trump web videos has drawn scrutiny from Trump critics who say it resembles state-run propaganda. Though the videos are entirely produced by the campaign, not the White House, Trump is the first president to declare his re-election candidacy on the day of his inauguration, allowing him to use campaign resources to promote his agenda to a greater degree than his predecessors.

Though the videos are Trump campaign products, they do not contain “paid-for-by” disclosures required of most political advertisements. Legal experts say the campaign is likely relying on a legal loophole that exempts digital-only advertising from those disclosure rules.

The president “is now using campaign funds to create what looks like a quasi-state TV project,” according to Brendan Fischer, the director of the federal and FEC reform project at the Campaign Legal Center, an ethics watchdog group.

Though the “Trump TV” videos are broadcasted in front of a backdrop littered with the campaign’s web address, they don’t contain an official disclosure statement noting that they were paid for by the Trump campaign, Fischer noted.

“A disclaimer stating that this is paid for by the Trump campaign appears particularly important here,” Fischer said in an email, given efforts to present the videos as actual news broadcasts.

Such a disclosure “is legally required for any other ad broadcast by the Trump campaign,” he noted, but “there is some ambiguity about when a disclaimer is required for ads posted exclusively on social media, and the Trump campaign may be trying to assert a loophole.”

The Trump campaign did not respond to questions about the legal basis for its lack of such a disclosure in the videos.

However, Team Trump has no plans to slow down investment or growth of its new “Trump TV” production. In fact, it’s currently seeking additional talent. A source familiar with the development of “Real News” told The Daily Beast that Tomi Lahren, a former anchor for right-wing media network The Blaze and a current spokeswoman for pro-Trump nonprofit Great America Alliance, had been “strongly considered” for a position.

Lara Trump, McEnany, and Lahren did not respond to requests for comment on this story.

WASHINGTON — One by one, they praised President Trump, taking turns complimenting his integrity, his message, his strength, his policies. Their leader sat smiling, nodding his approval.

“The greatest privilege of my life is to serve as vice president to the president who’s keeping his word to the American people,” Mike Pence said, starting things off.

“I am privileged to be here — deeply honored — and I want to thank you for your commitment to the American workers,” said Alexander Acosta, the secretary of labor.

Sonny Perdue, the agriculture secretary, had just returned from Mississippi and had a message to deliver. “They love you there,” he offered, grinning across the antique table at Mr. Trump.

Reince Priebus, the chief of staff whose job insecurity has been the subject of endless speculation, outdid them all, telling the president — and the assembled news cameras — “We thank you for the opportunity and the blessing to serve your agenda.”

So it went on Monday in the Cabinet Room of the White House, as Mr. Trump transformed a routine meeting of senior members of his government into a mood-boosting, ego-stroking display of support for himself and his agenda. While the president never explicitly asked to be praised, Mr. Pence set the worshipful tone, and Mr. Trump made it clear he liked what he heard.

“Thank you, Mick,” he told Mick Mulvaney, his budget director. “Good job,” he told Scott Pruitt, his E.P.A. chief. “Very good, Daniel,” he said to Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence.

The commander in chief, who has been known for decades as a fan of flattery and who speaks of himself in superlatives, even indulged in a bit of self-congratulation. He declared himself one of the most productive presidents in American history — perhaps Franklin D. Roosevelt could come close, he conceded — and proclaimed that he had led a “record-setting pace” of accomplishment.

Never mind that Mr. Trump has yet to sign any major legislation, or that his White House has been buffeted by legal and ethical questions surrounding the investigation into his campaign’s possible links to Russia and his firing of the F.B.I. director who had been leading that inquiry.

The highly unusual spectacle before the cabinet meeting got down to business and the TV cameras were banished seemed designed to deflect attention from the president’s faltering agenda and the accusations leveled against him last week by the fired F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, which are threatening to further overshadow his agenda and haunt his presidency.

Days before, Mr. Comey had charged that Mr. Trump had lied about his firing and inappropriately sought to influence the Russia investigation. On Monday, the president said the country was “seeing amazing results” from his leadership.

“I will say that never has there been a president, with few exceptions — in the case of F.D.R. he had a major Depression to handle — who’s passed more legislation, who’s done more things than what we’ve done,” Mr. Trump said. “We’ve been about as active as you can possibly be, and at a just about record-setting pace.”

The tableau in the Cabinet Room drew instant derision from critics. And within hours, Democrats had pounced.

In a video posted with the tweet, Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and the minority leader, sat at a table with young staff members who, at his prompting, praised his performance on Sunday talk shows and the appearance of his hair. One repeated Mr. Priebus’s quotation word for word, prompting the senator and his aides to erupt into laughter.

Mr. Trump has been struggling with his legislative agenda. His effort to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act passed the House on a second try, but senators are toiling to put together their own version. And his administration is months away from unveiling either a major tax cut package or the sweeping infrastructure plan he has promised.

The endorsements from the administration’s highest officials may have served as a comforting counterpoint to Mr. Trump’s sinking poll numbers. Fifty-nine percent disapprove of the job he is doing as president, according to a June 11 Gallup tracking survey, with only 36 percent approving.

After his upbeat introductory remarks on Monday, the president went around the table asking for a statement from each cabinet member. One by one, they said their names and — as if working to outdo one another — paid homage to Mr. Trump, describing how honored they were to serve in his administration.

“Thank you for the opportunity to serve at S.B.A.,” said Linda McMahon, the administrator of the Small Business Administration, trumpeting “a new optimism” for small businesses.

Ben Carson, the housing secretary, called it “a great honor” to work for Mr. Trump, while Mr. Perdue offered congratulations for “the men and women you have gathered around this table.”

Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary, told Mr. Trump, “It was a great honor traveling with you around the country for the last year, and an even greater honor to be here serving on your cabinet.”

A few cabinet members diverged from the apparent script. Jim Mattis, the secretary of defense — whose reputation for independence has been a comfort to Mr. Trump’s critics — refrained from personally praising the president, instead aiming his comments at American troops fighting and dying for their country.

“Mr. President, it’s an honor to represent the men and women of the Department of Defense, and we are grateful for the sacrifices our people are making in order to strengthen our military so our diplomats always negotiate from a position of strength,” Mr. Mattis said as Mr. Trump sat, stern-faced.

But the meeting still struck White House officials of past administrations as odd.

“I ran 16 Cabinet meetings during Obama’s 1st term,” Chris Lu, former President Barack Obama’s cabinet secretary, wrote on Twitter. “Our Cabinet was never told to sing Obama’s praises. He wanted candid advice not adulation.”

The show of support for the president was in keeping with an intense effort by the White House to boost Mr. Trump’s mood and change the subject from Mr. Comey’s damaging testimony last week.

In a television interview on Monday morning, the president’s daughter Ivanka Trump said her father “felt vindicated” and was eager to move on and talk about the rest of his agenda. Appearing on “Fox & Friends,” she said that “he feels incredibly optimistic.”

Reporters who witnessed the cabinet meeting’s prelude tried in vain to ask the president about his comments about Mr. Comey — specifically, whether he has tapes of their conversations, as he has hinted.

But Mr. Trump was in no mood to allow such questions to rain on his parade, and he dismissed the news media with a curt “thank you.”

“Finally held our first full @Cabinet meeting today,” he tweeted later, along with a video of the meeting-turned-pep-rally. “With this great team, we can restore American prosperity and bring real change to D.C.”

Trump launches "real" Trump TV news with Kayleigh McEnany

A former CNN commentator is now being featured as the host of an [sic] mock-TV news report touting President Trump's successes in what is being dubbed "Trump TV" on his official campaign Facebook page.*

A post on Mr. Trump's social media site reads, "Join Kayleigh McEnany as she provides you the news of the week from Trump Tower in New York!" The post went up on Sunday, just one day after McEnany left her role at the cable network.

In the minute and a half-long video, McEnany summarizes positive stories for Mr. Trump, including the positive economic data, the awarding of the Medal of Honor to a Vietnam war veteran, his endorsement of a Senate immigration bill named the RAISE act, which would limit the number of legal immigrants allowed into the U.S. primarily through the use of a points-based system.

McEnany announced, "President Trump has created more than 1 million new jobs," noted the low unemployment rate, high consumer confidence and surging stock market and concluded, "President Trump has clearly steered the economy back in the right direction."

As McEnany ends her segment, she signs out, "And that is the real news."

However, as the Washington Post pointed out, as far as jobs creation is concerned, Mr. Trump hasn't changed the direction of the economy -- under his predecessor, former President Obama, the last six months of his administration showed job creation at a slightly faster rate than the Trump administration.

It's the second of the network-news style segments featured on the Trump campaign's Facebook page, after Mr. Trump's daughter-in-law Lara had hosted the previous edition. Like McEnany, Lara Trump devoted the segment to applauding her father-in-law's accomplishments which she claims were not covered due to "so much fake news out there." The segments are not being posted on the White House Facebook page.

Some have attacked the Trump TV online newscasts -- the former U.S. ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul tweeted, "Wow. Feels eerily like so many state-owned channels I've watched in other countries."

But the positive-spin, week-in-review theme is hardly new in the realm of the digital-age presidency. The Obama White House released a video series dubbed "West Wing Week", narrated by former White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest and was featured on the administration's social media sites. The Obama-era videos, however, focused primarily on the comings and goings within 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., not so much on dispelling "fake news" that the administration doesn't like.

While it's not clear if McEnany will be the regular host of the "real news" segments, which are being paid for by the Trump campaign, the former network commentator now has a new role at the Republican National Committee (RNC) as the party's spokesperson.

In a statement released by the RNC on Monday, the party called McEnany a "seasoned television commentator who brings years of communications and media relations experience to her new role."

"Kayleigh will be an integral part of our Party's ongoing commitment to promoting the Republican message to Americans across the country, said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.

She added, "Her wealth of experience will be invaluable to the RNC as we continue to support President Trump and build on our majorities in Congress as we head into 2018."

McEnany said in a statement she was "Eager to talk about Republican ideas and values and have important discussions about issues affecting Americans across the country."
