THIS COLLECTION OF INFORMATION FIT SO WELL TOGETHER AS A WHOLE, THAT I TOOK IT OUT OF MY DAILY NEWS BLOG AND POSTED IT AS A SEPARATE UNIT, AS I OFTEN DO. GENERALLY, THESE START AS A NEWS ARTICLE THAT I CONSIDER TO BE ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT OR EVEN CRUCIAL TO THE GOALS THAT I, AND MANY OTHERS, WANT THIS NATION TO FOLLOW. IF IT IS TRUE THAT A SEPARATION BY RACE INTO TWO OR MORE SIZEABLE UNITS AS “NATIONS,” WHICH SOME WHITE SUPREMACISTS WANT TO SEE HERE, WITH PERHAPS THE INDIAN NATIONS RECOGNIZED WITH MORE POWER AND AUTONOMY AS WELL WOULD HELP, LET’S LOOK AT IT.

INTERESTINGLY, IF THE LARGEST CENTER PORTION OF THE COUNTRY WERE CALLED SIMPLY “AMERICA,” AND THE WHOLE NORTH AMERICAN REGION ALONG WITH PUERTO RICO AND THE PHILIPPINES, ETC. WERE CALLED “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” FOR INSTANCE, WE WOULD BE A BIT LIKE THE OLD SOVIET UNION, WITH RUSSIA BEING CENTRAL BUT A LARGE NUMBER OF REGIONS INCLUDING NATIVE AMERICAN NATIONS HAVING SOME AUTONOMY FOR EACH.

THOSE SEPARATE AREAS OR “NATIONS” COULD HAVE INDEPENDENT INTERNATIONAL AND CROSS-BORDER TRADE AND DIPLOMATIC RELATIONSHIPS, BUT NOT SOLE DOMINION OVER ANY OTHERS. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THE POWER BALANCE BE RELATED TO POPULATION AND NOT TO A FIXED NUMBER OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM EACH STATE/NATION. GIVE THEM, SAY, A SENATOR AND A CONGRESSPERSON FOR EVERY FOUR MILLION OR SO CITIZENS.

IN ADDITION, A ONE MAN ONE VOTE SYSTEM SHOULD BE WORKED OUT SO THAT A GREATER FAIRNESS IN ELECTIONS COULD BE CREATED, THERE SHOULD NOT BE A GROUP OF DEMAGOGUES WHO CONTROL WHICH PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES WILL BE ALLOWED TO RUN THE TWO PARTIES. I AM, OF COURSE, REFERRING TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY’S “SUPER DELEGATE” SYSTEM OF THE WEALTHY AND POWERFUL CHOOSING WHICH CANDIDATES MAY RUN FOR PRESIDENT. ALSO, UNWIELDY AND UNFAIR SYSTEMS LIKE THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE SHOULD BE DROPPED TOTALLY THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE US SYSTEM. IT’S A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE CANDIDATES RUN OUTSIDE OF ANY PARTY GROUP AT ALL, RATHER THAN BEING LIMITED TO TWO PER PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. THERE WOULD OF COURSE BE MULTIPLE CANDIDATES AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL, AND THE TOP TWO COULD SERVE AS CO-PRESIDENTS OR PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT. IN THE RARE CASE OF A TIE, THERE COULD BE A DECISION BY LOT OR A SIMILAR METHOD. I WANT TO BREAK UP THIS UNFAIR AND EVEN VICIOUS TREND THAT WE HAVE REACHED. DONALD TRUMP HAD HIS DISGUSTING COMMENTS OF SEVERAL KINDS AND HILLARY CLINTON MADE A VERY BAD COMMENT AS WELL, REFERRING TO THE FAR RIGHT AS A “BASKET OF DEPLORABLES.” THE FACT THAT I AGREE WITH HER DOESN’T MAKE IT ACCEPTABLE IN A PRESIDENTIAL RACE OR IN OFFICE. BEING A “FREE” AMERICAN MUSTN’T MEAN THAT WE BECOME UNCIVILIZED.

FINALLY, WE SHOULD WRITE IT INTO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (THE UMBRELLA UNIT) CONSTITUTION THAT NO HUMAN MAY BE OWNED OR BOUND TO A PARTICULAR PART OF THE LAND OR PARTICULAR KINDS OF WORK AGAINST THEIR WILL, NO CITIZEN MAY BE HARANGUED OR HARASSED OVER THEIR PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS SUCH AS SKIN COLOR, EDUCATIONAL LEVEL, AMOUNT OF MONEY, AND OTHER SUCH NON-CHARACTER RELATED FEATURES; NOR BE PAID UNFAIR WAGES BASED ON THEIR MINORITY STATUS SUCH AS RACE, SEXUAL PREFERENCE AND GENDER. I ALSO WANT TO SEE A “LIVING WAGE” INSTITUTED WHICH WILL COVER THE COST OF LIVING. BEYOND THAT CITIZENS MAY WORK OR START BUSINESSES TO CLIMB THAT SOCIAL LADDER THAT IS SO HIGHLY TOUTED IN THIS COUNTRY. ON THAT SUBJECT, GO TO THIS SITE: HTTP://WWW.BBC.COM/NEWS/BUSINESS-20204594).

UNDER THE WHITE SUPREMACIST PLAN FOR THE COUNTRY, ONLY THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND THE CENTRAL SOUTH WOULD BE RACIALLY OR RELIGIOUSLY SEGREGATED, UNLESS THE NATIVE AMERICAN SECTIONS WERE TO VOTE TO PREVENT OTHER GROUPS FROM MIGRATING THERE. IF ASIANS OR ISLAMIC OR JEWISH PEOPLE OR FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIAN PEOPLE WOULD PREFER TO HAVE A SEPARATE PLACE OF THEIR OWN, THEN THE USA SUPERSTRUCTURE GOVERNMENT SHOULD WORK THAT OUT DIPLOMATICALLY AND FAIRLY.

THOSE OF ANY GROUP WHO PREFER TO LIVE IN AN OPEN AND PLURALISTIC SOCIETY SUCH AS WE HAVE TODAY, MAY MOVE TO THE CENTRAL AREAS AFTER APPLYING TO DO SO AND BEING CAREFULLY SCREENED FOR CRIMES AND DANGEROUS MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES BY A GROUP LIKE THE FBI TO IDENTIFY AND BLOCK THOSE WHO ACTUALLY DO WISH TO DO HARM TO OTHERS, RATHER THAN MAKE AN EFFORT TO GET ALONG IN A PEACEFUL AND FAIR MANNER. THE GOAL WITH ALL THIS IS TO MAKE THE WAY WE INTERACT SMOOTHER, MORE PEACEFUL, AND MORE EFFICIENT UNDER THE LAW RATHER THAN UNDER AUTOCRATIC OR OLIGARCHIC HEAVY-HANDED FORCE, WHICH IS WHAT WE SOMETIMES HAVE NOW, AND IT DEFINITELY ISN’T WORKING OUT.

THERE ARE MANY WAYS IN WHICH THE WAY WE DO THINGS NOW ARE SOCIALLY UNFAIR AND LEND THEMSELVES TO WARLIKE GROUP ENCOUNTERS, SUCH AS THE RECENT FLARE UP OF ANCIENT HATREDS AT CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA OVER A CONFEDERATE STATUE. WHEN THE SOCIETY IS DIVIDED EMOTIONALLY IN SUCH WAYS, WE WILL HAVE LESS ORDER AND BENIGN STRIVING TOWARD A COMMON GOAL OF HUMAN DECENCY.

THEN IF, LATER, THE PEOPLE WERE TO DESIRE CHANGES, WE COULD HOLD REGULAR, PLANNED AND NON-TRANSFORMATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTIONS TO ENACT LIMITED CHANGES – “TWEAKING” THE NATIONAL PRINCIPLES AND LAWS AS THEY NEED IT. THE REAL REASON THAT THE REPUBLICANS WERE UNABLE RECENTLY TO ABOLISH THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT IS BECAUSE THAT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA, SIMPLY PUT. THE ACA HAS FLAWS WHICH SHOULD BE SMOOTHED OUT, BUT IT IS GIVING HEALTH CARE TO MILLIONS MORE PEOPLE NOW WHO HAD NONE BEFORE.

WE SHOULD REGULARLY KEEP THE OUT OF DATE LAWS PRUNED AWAY, KEEP THE VIOLENT SUBGROUPS LIKE THE ALT-RIGHT AND THE RELIGIOUS DOMINIONISTS WEEDED OUT, NEW ISSUES REPRESENTED AND ENACTED, THE RIGHT TO LOCALIZED ECONOMIC ARRANGEMENTS WRITTEN INTO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. IN ADDITION TO THOSE BASIC RULES, I WOULD WANT TO SEE ANY BUILDUP OF OVERLY POWERFUL INDIVIDUALS, POLICE FORCES, WEALTHY FAMILIES, CORPORATIONS, DYNASTIES OR OTHER SELF-INTEREST GROUPS FROM ATTAINING AN UNDUE AMOUNT OF CONTROL.

IN MY VIEW, THAT IS WHAT MAKES OUR COUNTRY AND CONGRESS SO UNCONTROLLED AND POORLY COORDINATED, AND MAKES SOME OF OUR PEOPLE SO VERY ANGRY AT THE WHOLE SITUATION, AND READY TO ENGAGE IN PHYSICAL FIGHTING OR WORSE. THERE IS TOO MUCH GROUP SYNCHRONIZATION OVER A HIGHER VALUING OF INDIVIDUALS, AND TOO MUCH COMPETITION AMONG LEGISLATORS, TO THE DEGREE THAT THEY CAN’T EVEN PASS BILLS AND BUDGETS AND KEY POSITIONS. THIS KIND OF CHAOS IN THE GOVERNMENT ITSELF, NOT JUST DISORDERLY CITIZENS, IS UNACCEPTABLE TO ME. PERSONALLY, I AM ALMOST READY TO TEAR IT ALL DOWN LIKE A BUNCH OF BUILDING BLOCKS AND START OVER.

The deadly hate crime that shocked Portland

On May 26th, 2017, a white supremacist stabbed and killed two men on a mass transit train in Portland, Oregon. He severely wounded a third man. They were defending two teenage girls from a barrage of his hateful, racist threats.

Most of the citizens of Portland were shocked, as was the country. How could such a gruesome, racially-motivated crime happen in one of the nation's most progressive cities; a town stereotyped for its quirkiness and over-the-top liberalism?

But another part of the population was not surprised at all. Because it has happened before, nearly 30 years ago.

"There are many, many ways the black population in Oregon has been kept down. And I think it was fertile ground for white supremacy," said Elinor Langer, author of "A Hundred Little Hitlers," a detailed account of the 1988 murder of an Ethiopian immigrant named Mulugeta Seraw.

On November 12th of that year, three Neo-Nazi skinheads from the group East Side White Pride beat Seraw to death in the middle of a quiet neighborhood street.

Seraw's friends, also Ethiopian immigrants, were dropping him off at his apartment complex after a night out. Their car idled in the street as Seraw stood outside, saying his goodbyes through the car window. Soon, a car full of skinheads leaving a nearby apartment pulled up behind them, yelling for the black men to get out of the way. A screaming match ensued and quickly escalated to a brutal crime.

According to Langer's book, three skinheads -- Kyle Brewster, Steve Strasser, and Ken Mieske -- jumped out of their car and attacked Seraw and his two friends. Brewster began fighting with Seraw; Strasser and Mieske kicked and swung at the other car with a baseball bat. One of Seraw's friends fled and hid under a nearby parked car while the other sped off. Mieske took the bat, hit Seraw over the head three times, and left him dying in the road. He died in the early morning hours of November 13th, 1988.

"People [in Portland] were surprised, they were shocked. They acted as if Oregon were not in fact an extremely racist place," Langer said. "Nothing could be further from the truth."

In actuality, Portland was once considered the skinhead capitol of the country.

White nationalists have long rallied behind a call to action known as the "Northwest Imperative." The goal is to claim the overwhelmingly white states of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, popular recruiting grounds, as their utopian territory. During the 1980s and 1990s, this manifested in increasingly violent Neo-Nazi skinhead gangs spreading throughout the region. In Portland in particular, their trademark thick black boots and leather jackets blended right in with the popular punk rock music scene of the time.

Portland responded to the murder by prosecuting the murderers, and working to dispel the idea that white supremacist groups had rooted themselves in the city. Rallies and protests drew large crowds denouncing white supremacy. A new law was passed requiring Oregon police to report bias crimes to database. The three men were arrested and charged for Seraw's death. Mieske pled guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison. Brewster and Strasser pled guilty to lesser charges of manslaughter and assault, and each received 20-year sentences.

Then another lawsuit came along in 1989, from the Southern Poverty Law Center. They sought to pin responsibility for Seraw's death on a white supremacist leader from California, Tom Metzger, and his son John. It was under the guidance of the Metzgers that a man named Dave Mazzella first organized the East Side White Pride gang. He taught Mieske, Strasser, and Brewster their violent ideology. Because of this, a jury found Tom and John Metzger guilty of inciting Seraw's murder, and ordered them to pay $12.5 million to his estate.

It was a major victory for the SPLC, and left Metzger's racist operation bankrupt. But some Portland residents saw the entire trial as a way for the city to deny it had its own larger white supremacy problem to deal with.

"That was the spirit of it. It was, 'We're not like this.' It was denial," Langer explained. "It wasn't these local skinheads, it was this outside agitator from California."

Twenty-nine years later, Portland has an image as a liberal "Portlandia." In many ways, it is. But it is also the whitest big city in the country, at 70.4 percent. That number reflects the statewide percentage of 78, and the scarce diversity is not exactly an accident. When Oregon entered the union in 1859, its constitution outlawed black people from living in the state or risk public lashings. That language, although no longer enforced after many decades, remained in the constitution until 2002.

It's part of the reason why the region is so attractive for the "Northwest Imperative."* And it's a convenient imbalance for white nationalist groups. So when the horrific attack happened on a Portland public transit train in May, the surprised reaction from the community felt like 1988 all over again to those who have not forgotten.

"I was absolutely not shocked," Oregon historian Walidah Imarisha said. "It's in the DNA of Oregon ... you cannot have Portlandia without having a brutal history of repression of people of color."

The Northwest Territorial Imperative (often shortened to the Northwest Imperative[1]) is a white separatist idea popularized since the 1980s within white nationalist and white supremacist groups in the United States. According to it, adherents of these groups are encouraged to relocate to a five-state region of the Northwestern United States — viz., Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, and Western Montana (or the western part at least to Interstate 15). Northern California, Northwestern Colorado, Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, and Northwest Territories are sometimes also included. The intent is to eventually declare the region an "Aryan" homeland.[2]

The primary proponent of this idea was Richard Girnt Butler (1918–2004), leader of the Aryan Nations.[3] A secondary supporter was Robert Jay Mathews (1953–1984),[4] who lived in Metaline Falls, Washington and advocated further colonization of the area along with David Lane[5] who wrote a fictional short story advancing a form of the idea titled KD Rebel. The current exponent of Northwest Migration is Harold Covington (b. 1953) of the Northwest Front.[6]

The Republic of New Afrika (RNA) was founded in 1968 as an American social movement based in Black Nationalism; it had three goals:

Creation of an independent African-American-majority country situated in the southeastern United States, in the heart of black-majority population. A similar claim is made for all the black-majority counties and cities throughout the United States.

Payment of several billion dollars in reparations to African-American descendants of slaves by the US government for the damages inflicted on Africans and their descendants by chattel enslavement, Jim Crow segregation, and modern-day forms of racism.

A referendum of all African Americans to determine their desires for citizenship; movement leaders say they were not offered a choice in this matter after emancipation in 1865 following the American Civil War.

The vision for this country was first promulgated on March 31, 1968, at a Black Government Conference held in Detroit, Michigan. Its proponents lay claim to five Southern states: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina; and to the black-majority counties adjacent to this area in Arkansas, Texas, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.

History

The Black Government Conference was convened by the Malcolm X Society and the Group on Advanced Leadership (GOAL), two influential Detroit-based black organizations with broad followings. The attendees produced a Declaration of Independence (signed by 100 conferees out of approximately 500), a constitution, and the framework for a provisional government. Robert F. Williams, a controversial human rights advocate then living in exile in China, was chosen as the first president of the provisional government; attorney Milton Henry (a student of Malcolm X‘s teachings) was named first vice president; and Betty Shabazz, widow of Malcolm X, served as second vice president.

The Provisional Government of the Republic of New Afrika (PG-RNA) advocated/advocates a form of cooperative economics through the building of New Communities—named after the Ujamaa concept promoted by Tanzanian President Julius Nyerere; militant self-defense through the building of local people’s militias and an aboveground standing army called the Black Legion; and respect for international law through the building of organizations that champion the right of self-determination for people of African descent.

The organization was involved in numerous controversial issues. For example, it attempted to assist Oceanhill-Brownsville in seceding from the United States during the 1968 conflict that took place there over control of public schools. Additionally, it was involved with shootouts at New Bethel Baptist Church in 1969 (during the one-year anniversary of the founding) and another in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1971. (It had established the capital of the Republic in Hinds County on a farm). Law-enforcement officials were killed and others were injured during the 1969 and 1971 violent confrontations. Organization members were prosecuted.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) believed the Republic of New Afrika to be a seditious group and conducted raids on its meetings, which led to violent confrontations. It repeatedly arrested and prosecuted certain RNA leaders noted above. The group was a target of the COINTELPRO operation by the FBI, as well as Red Squad activities of Michigan State Police and the Detroit Police Department, among other cities.

Chokwe Lumumba, formerly Edwin Finley Taliaferro of Detroit, was elected as second vice president in 1971. He later became an attorney, working in Michigan and Mississippi in public defense. He was elected to the city council of Jackson, Mississippi and as mayor in 2013, dying in office in February 2014 of natural causes.

In popular culture

The 1988 novel Fire on the Mountain by Terry Bisson depicts an alternate history in which John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry in 1859 succeeded. It led to a widespread slave revolt throughout the South, which culminated with secession and the creation of a nation of Nova Africa, similar to that envisioned by the above movement.[1]

New Africa House, an academic building and former dormitory on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, was established following a black student takeover of the dorm in the spring of 1970.
